You take exceptional care of the skin on your face - now how do we get the body to match?
This year has enlightened me on the many questions women have about body lightening. It all began at an aesthetic conference in Florida this past January. Although my topic was on brown spots and hyperpigmentation, the majority of questions were about body lightening and intimate lightening.
Common Skin Concerns of the Body
- Mottled skin tone, age spots, and freckles
- Dark, velvety, or thickened regions of skin
- Ashy, dry, or lackluster skin
- Fine lines, dryness, or scaly-looking
- Acne and/or acne scarring
- White bumps and rough texture
- Ingrown hair
Get Your Skin Glowing
1. Wear Sunscreen
This is your #1 aging and skin cancer prevention product! I've heard it before, "I work indoors and I'm never out in the sun." Walking outdoors to-and-from your vehicle exposes your skin to UVA and UVB radiation. More importantly, UVA has the ability to penetrate through glass. If you spend a lot of time driving, or near a window, you are getting UV radiation and damaging your skin.
2. Moisturize After Showering
Hot showers are notorious for stripping away your skin's natural moisture and increasing dryness. Ease-up on the hot water and moisturize immediately after towel drying your skin. Your hydrated skin absorbs and uses the moisture better for longer lasting benefits.
3. Exfoliate 2-3 Times Per Week
Body scrubs can feel great on the skin, but look at the label before you buy one. Many mass produced scrubs have dyes and fragrances added that can take away moisture from your skin. Moisture is what keeps our skin dewy, soft, and youthful. Choose a natural formula or make your own at home. Dermabuff is my favorite scrub–it's almost like having microderm. over your body. Aggressive enough to smooth rough, dry skin of the body and brighten for a special occasion. Clarisonic brushes and dry brushing with a body brush are also great ways to buff away dead skin cells.
Chemical exfoliation has two beneficial functions to the skin. It works superficially to dissolve dead skin, immediately brightening. They also penetrate into the deeper layers of the epidermis to help hydrate and stimulate newer, more youthful skin cells to the surface. Cranberry Exfoliating Peel is an excellent body chemical for dry skin. Lighten More serum is ideal for sun damaged skin and mottled tone. The combination of chemical exfoliants and super lighteners in Lighten More help dramatically improve hyperpigmentation and dark spots–but only if you're protecting your skin with sunscreen!
