IPL Photofacial
HOW IPL WORKS?
The IPL photofacial is quick and safe, performed in 45 minutes or less. It utilizes various wavelengths of light which target and denature damaged cells in the skin, stimulating our body’s natural healing process. When this occurs, pigmented damage such as sun spots and freckles get pushed to the surface of the skin and naturally flake off.
The light also treats unsightly broken capillaries and diffused redness in the skin. The end result is a more even and bright skin tone. Another benefit of photo facials is the stimulation of collagen production that leads to thickening of the skin, leaving you with youthful, rejuvenated, healthy skin.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR IPL TREATMENT
It is important to discontinue the use of prescription vitamin A products and acids one week prior to your treatment and one week post treatment.
Even though the downtime is minimal we recommend you do not have an important event within 7 days of your IPL treatment.
We recommend having a microdermabrasion treamtent 7-10 days after your photo-facial to polish away the targeted pigmentation and enhance the overall results and appearance of your skin.
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING THE IPL TREATMENT
During treatment, your eyes will be protected with safety shields or glasses. You may briefly feel a warm or “rubber band snap” sensation as the light is absorbed by the targeted areas. Your procedure may take a few minutes to half an hour depending on the size of the area to be treated and the type of procedure performed. Your Aesthetic Laser Technician will discuss all of your options with you.
The procedure is gentle, noninvasive and safe. Generally, there is no need for a topical anesthetic; however, one may be used on more sensitive areas.
POST-PROCEDURE
You may experience some redness that should resolve itself within a few hours. For some pigmented lesions, you will see a darkening of the treated areas, followed by a fading and flaking off at a later stage.
It is important to follow aftercare instructions. You may be given some skin care products, and instructions on how to use them. You will be sensitive to ultraviolet light, and you must avoid direct sun exposure until completely healed. Fully cover your skin or use a good sunscreen whenever you go outdoors.
This is a noninvasive and gentle procedure with virtually no downtime. In most cases, you are immediately able to return to work, apply makeup and resume most activities.
