How Hyaluronic Acid Benefits Your Skin

Hayluronic acid is being touted by beauty magazines as the revolutionary anti-aging ingredient. At last, modern research and innovative applications have brought this tried and true ingredient to the spotlight, and we couldn't be happier. Why? Because hyaluronic acid has the potential to dramatically improve the look of your skin.

Multifaceted Moisture - Hyaluronic Acid

Why use hyaluronic acid?

Youthful skin is characterized as full, elastic, smooth and even-toned. As a strong component to our skin, hyaluronic acid contributes to many of these signs of youth. Unfortunately, it depletes as our skin suffers from intrinsic aging processes and environmental damage.

Hyaluronic acid has the ability to bind water and penetrate the skin. It hydrates and helps improve barrier function, makes the skin supple, and improves permeability. These 3 characteristics of hyaluronic acid make it beneficial to use on nearly every skin type.

Individuals with aging skin concerns have the most to gain from a hyaluronic acid treatment at home. Increasing permeability of the skin amplifies the absorption and use of other anti-aging ingredients - including vitamin C, retinol, and amino peptides - giving them the potential to amplify your results.

Oily skin and acne concerns also benefit from a daily hyaluronic acid treatment. It helps keep the skin supple and reduce the prevalence of breakouts and blackheads. More importantly, hyaluronic acid is non-comodogenic, does not sensitize the skin, and it helps improve cystic acne and rosacea skin concerns by assisting with healing and repair.

How to incorporate it into your regimen.

Hyaluronic acid is a great regimen booster for most all skin types and can be used twice a day.

OILY / COMBINATION SKIN

Rest-N-Restore can help contribute to healthy-looking skin and help reduce the occurrence of breakouts. After cleansing and toning, apply Rest-N-Restore alone before your High-Potent C antioxidant treatment - or apply them together - and follow with Clearifying Lotion (healing and antimicrobial) or Ultra Hemp Lotion (anti-aging and healing), then sunscreen.

BALANCED / DRY SKIN

Improve your skin's suppleness and radiance with Rest-N-Restore twice a day. In the morning, after cleansing and conditioning, apply Rest-N-Restore alone before your vitamin C treatment - or apply them together - and follow with your favorite Advanced Rejuvenating Concepts moisturizer, then sunscreen. At night, apply Rest-N-Restore after conditioning your skin, before your nighttime treatment.

Layering Rest-N-Restore with a moisturizer is important for your skin type. Unlike oily skin lotions, moisturizers are formulated with emollients to help seal in hydration and deliver longer-lasting wear. Without emollients and an abundance of natural oil in your skin, the benefits of hydration are lost through the process of transepidermal water loss (TEWL). Your skin may actually look and feel drier throughout the day because all the hydration you put into it was not trapped with a moisturizer.
